In 1999, Submerged Ideas began to compile a list of the most eye-popping
reported domain name sales. We called it the "Top 50" list. Well, now
the list is much longer! We have painstakingly updated our research, and we are
proud to present the following list, which we believe to be the most
comprehensive and accurate in the world. This time, we have provided citations
to the source documents for the sales information.
sm Some of the sales amounts reported below are relatively low, but we have
included them because they are interesting not so much for the amount of the
sale, but because of other factors such as the early date of the transaction or
"cybersquatting" considerations. We have also included information on
sales where the price is not publicly known yet, and on auctions which may not
have been completed yet (we provide asking and/or bidding prices on these).

Some of the most fascinating information that can be gleaned from our
research involves names that have been sold twice or more. Most of the time, the
second sale is much higher (see business.com and act.com, for example). However,
some names have recently been re-sold in bankruptcy sales for prices much lower
than the original high-profile sale (such as living.com and wine.com).
We hope you enjoy this interesting information, and that you come back often
to see the results of our continuous research in the fascinating world of domain
names. The list is organized alphabetically by domain name, and is current as of
June 30, 2001. All prices are in U.S. dollars.
